Paul W. Freeman
Wilkes County Attorney
Born in Radford, Virginia, I was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1969-1976. While there, I earned a degree in Journalism (1973) and a Juris Dotor in 1976. Since 1976, I have worked and lived in Wilkes County, North Carolina.
Over the years, I have served on many community boards and organizations. For some reason, I seem drawn to working for kids. That is partly due to my representation of the Wilkes County Department of Social Services almost continually from 1976 until 2016 and proud representation of the Guardian ad Litem programs in Ashe and Yadkin Counties; but also partly because I think it is the most important task a person can undertake. I was one of the founding members of the Rainbow Center (an organization tasked in part, with providing services to abused and neglected children) and S.A.F.E. (Shelter and Aid for Families in Emergencies). I was also one of the first four attorneys in North Carolina to be certified by the National Association of Counsel for Children as an expert in Child Welfare Law. I'm currently rated by "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell, and have been for some years. That is the highest rating an attorney can receive for legal expertise and integrity. However, that will be for you to judge.
